On sites like Octopus Overlords or Console Gold, when you do a "search for new posts" the results web page is titled "Search" - then when you go into a thread, the web page title is the name of the thread. This makes hitting the "go back" menu on your browser (the thing that drops down a list of all the pages you've visited) easier to navigate.

On our side, all of the pages are titled "The Wanderers : Wandering the Worlds of the Web" so it makes things more difficult to navigate.

I usually do a "search" then go into a thread and read new responses. Then I go back 2+ pages to the search results. So you can see having 10 pages labeled "Wanderers: Wandering the Worlds of the Web" is not too helpful for my navigation.

Yeah, it's a small picky thing, but if you could change it so the web pages display more meaningful titles, that would be peachy keen! Thanks guys.

It's all about the framework that drives the site. Our site is PN therefore all applications or modules that we use all run inside it. OO does not run inside such a framework therefore all the pages are not run inside one. Their phpbb2 application is not integrated into their site ours is. I hope that explains better...

I use firefox, so I just 'view posts since last visit' and then ctrl-click each thread (open in new tab) I'm interested in reading and then mark all threads read.

I don't rely on the back button since I may overshoot and hit the main forum page again. For some reason - once I fire up my browser, every time I hit the main forum page after the first, the site acts like I just marked all threads read. /shrug

That's my technique (and issue) too Shin. View posts since last visit, then ctrl-click threads.

i've found that often times the "back" button messes up knowing which threads are new or not, where as actually clicking the link at the very top/bottom for the forums seems to preserve it. for example, if i werent posting i'd click "the wanderers forum index" at the bottom to return to the main forum and check out whatever other ones have new posts. (also using firefox)
